POSTPONED: 2020 Farm to Food Pantry Program Season Kickoff

March 24, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Due to issues associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, this event has been postponed until further notice.

We’ll still be doing a Farm to Food Pantry program no doubt, but the kickoff meeting has been postponed at least until the Governor lifts the public meeting ban.

We here at WSU Stevens County Extension and the Northeast Washington Hunger Coalition will be working food distribution solutions and will post information as we have it.

******** MEETING POSTPONED **********

On Tuesday March 24th the Northeast WA Hunger Coalition will be holding its annual Farm to Food Pantry (F2FP) kickoff meeting at the WSU Extension office in Colville from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. This meeting is open to the public. We will be looking for local growers to help support the program. At this meeting the F2FP program will be introduced, the 2020 farmer pricelist explained, and new growers can sign up for the season. Not a big professional grower? No problem! We would love to have you and your backyard garden in the program. We’re especially looking for new growers in the regions around Ione, Cusick, Republic and on the Spokane Indian Reservation.

The award-winning Farm to Food Pantry program delivers fresh locally grown produce to 15 area food pantries. Last year they delivered more than 36,000 lbs of contracted and donated produce, all locally grown. There is an increased demand for fresh produce this year which means they need produce from you, our local growers.

If you plan on attending please RSVP by phone or email:  nils.johnson@wsu.edu, 509.684.2588.

Beautiful tomatoes from one of our contract growers.
